    Hi Guys,

Looks like MS is giving up with their current search engine (live) and are building a new one called bing.

    see: http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/technology/8070790.stm

What do you think they would need to do to overtake google or at least yahoo? To me their ideas seem pretty boring/limited at the moment. They dont seem to understand that people like the clarity of google.

    Best,

    J

Paul Stoddart said that Microsoft's goal is to overtake yahoo. May be it's possible for Microsoft. When bing.com will work we'll know.At the first sight on the screen design is very nice.
    Thanks

Well they said they were hoping to increase their market share to 11%, so I don't think their goals are to upsurp yet. I'm more interested if this changes their crawling engine at all. ;)

I think that they need to do something radical and aggresive. The search engine market is too predictable... google, google and google. At least wolfram tried something new.

Bing is just the front end but the real back end is HopHunt.

I am hoping MS is serious this time to develop a good and competitive search engine and it is not just another bullying tactic to make Yahoo fall in its lap! :(
