    Nei ho ("hello") from the pearl of the Orient, otherwise known as Hong Kong. I've been writing a blog since 2009, and I would be delighted if more people read it. I started the blog originally to give me an incentive to write, but a serious cycling accident at the end of 2011 forced me into a change of emphasis. Many of my early posts reflected what I think, but nowadays I'm more likely to be reporting on what I do.

    I write about whatever interests me, but there are recurring themes: I write a lot about Hong Kong and Chinese culture; cycling; and how we use language to communicate. As a former scientist, I also occasionally write explanatory posts about some aspect of science. If you're interested in checking it out, my blog can be found here:
