New looks are always cooler looking. Same performance level is always debatable though. I like it!

I just did some testing with my Hotmail account and I have noticed a great increase of speed. It now rivals Gmail speed. They sure have vamped it up quite a lot.

I think is a matter of getting used to, but it is definitely faster in my opinion.

Steaming pile of crap - I LOVE the new appearance, but it's functionally useless to me in my browser of choice (opera), it makes IE throw scripting errors like crazy, and appears to have been written by a sweetly retarded crack-whore rhesis monkey.

    Read more here:
    http://my.opera.com/deathshadow/blog/2008/11/05/rubbish-code-from-alleged-professionals

For those of you too timid to follow the link, there's one section from that which is spells it out - basically it's 130k of code JUST to display the 2k of actual content on the inbox... with 168 validation errors it's not HTML, it's pure gibberish that if I had my way wouldn't work in any browser - in fact I'm amazed it works at all anywhere (web developers have gotten a free ride on errros for too damned long), and amongst the errors we have unclosed tags, attributes that are invalid for their doctype, attributes on elements that don't even HAVE those attributes (HTML does NOT have a class attribute for example), ending tags for things that aren't even open, inlined CSS, inlined scripting, presentational markup, and a whole host of "did the person that wrote this even KNOW html?" warning signs.

If I was in charge over there, a lot of people would have just lost their jobs.

... and the sad part is I LIKE HOW IT LOOKS - it just doesn't WORK worth a damned for me. I've been using hotmail since before M$ bought it up, and frankly the past year I've been considering abandoning it, and this might just be the motivation I needed to go elsewhere. This level of ineptitude does not bode well for the future of it, and I wonder if they are intentionally trying to axe it the same way they did MSN groups.

I can't say I particularly like the new one.. it's okay but just another reason to attempt to stop using their services.

I like it. It's good to have a change, otherwise it gets boring.

I would like a little red "x" next to the delete button.

I would like the "search the web" taken away, and "search email" put there instead. It's confusing.

apart from that -- i still like the old design better!!!

I like it too, but it seems a little to, white... Its kind of blah, I like that they finally made a mark as read feature like all other email providers have had for like ever :p

I am starting to like Hotmail overall more and more, I usually only use it for like MSN Messenger, but I am starting to use it for other things as well, I remember when spam was horrible with Hotmail, now its getting a heck of a lot better

As for "free" services go, hotmail is the better of them. I can't say "best", so pardon my grammar.
