I'm with Chuck. Remove all effects and make it work as 'flat' art. All good logos are based upon an idea, and have no need for effects. Keep it as simple as possible, without reflections, embossing, shadows and gradients.
I like this tutorial, thanks. I wanted to add two different colors in a wave style, but wasn't sure how to.
I listened to the comments and decided to create a different variation. I think this is what I am going to go with. It needs to be polished a little. I know this is not a world class design or anything. Maybe if I make more than $20/month on the site, I can hire someone to make it better. I know I will not be able to please everyone. I really appreciate all of the help and comments.
MUCH better. Try changing eithe rthe first, or the second font to something bolder. Give it a thicker look, and a nice popular font twist style.
This text might do the trick. It is thicker and has a serif flair that is semi-gothic. I just do want it to be too evil. It needs to have a somewhat comic/playful feel because I certainly don't want to depress (or creep out) people. It certainly is hard to extract all of the emotions you want to portray in a tiny picture. Especially when it is a balancing act between contradicting connotations.
