Its not totally correct. If it was google would have been in major loss. :p

Change is part of nature, one or the other way your are going to change. You might not know its cause. ;)

DP does not sell anything nor does it market itself. I don't think anyone will leave the forum if the logo changes.

Branding isn't just about selling things. It's about reputation management and visibility. It's also not about people leaving the forum if the logo changes. It's about a site or company's ability to maintain consistency and recognition in the eyes of a market or audience. You never change your branding unless there's a reason to (as in forum traffic majorly dropping or something -- and Shawn's noted several times recently that is the opposite of true). It's one of those things you should only touch if it's broken (DP's obviously isn't) or if there's a huge potential opportunity with better branding (and DP's already doing fine regarding audience share and continued growth). Rebranding wouldn't make sense unless major aspects of the forum were going to go in very different directions.

Well said, and my point exactly! Don't fix what isn't broken, and DP surely is not. :D

I honestly couldn't see DP with a different logo. With a new logo would have to come a completely different look, and since so many people are used to THIS forum, there's a possibility that it could have a negative effect.

I still don't understand why people want to change things when there's nothing wrong with them in the first place....

Not a good idea, because the logo is listed in a lot of other websites, DP's Logo is listed in a lot of webistes, and DP template is simple and that's how most people like it, so I think it's not a good idea of changing it.

It doesn't have to be changed, it just needs a bit of an update. Get rid of the dropshadow for starters, that makes it look 90's style. Second would be to change whatever hideous font that is.. In my opinion of course :) Third would be a different color scheme.

Completely agree. Google has gotten countless logo updates (eg lowering thickness, adding a shadow, and putting on a little glass look) which made its logo a bit more appealing while keeping its brand. Also don't forget about their favicon change :)

I think DP should consider touching up their logo a bit while keeping the same design.

Change your logo after you have this many people on board? No way. Actually, I never noticed the logo that much, I came here by reputation and word of mouth. The point that branding is important definitely is correct, but DP is not selling toasters, so I don't believe that a forum logo has that kind of impact. Like I said, been here awhile now and this is the first time I really looked at it.
