I am trying to find out more info on this but it seems to be very difficult. A person I met at an exhibition that has good friends at google was telling me that there is a new Google translation tool in development that, when it is released, is supposed to basically kill all other companies into machine translation (automated translation). As we all know, usnig Google translate for example on Japanese sites lets you maybe find out what a Japanese website is about.....but the translation quality is bad and many sentences will not make any sense at all. Aparently this new google tool is so advanced that even the automated translation will be ofa much better quality than what we are used to now. This would be great nws for any website owner....aybe at smoe point it really will be easy to have your website offere in other languages automatically. Anyway, did anybody hear anythign about this yet? It is just a rumour but I wouldn;t be surprised if it turns true. It would make total sense for google and I doubt that there would be any company doing machine translation at the momebnt that could compete with google.
It's likely to be just a rumour at this stage and I don't think you can find out much about it, knowing how well Google usually protects the information about outcoming products. We all remember Chrome - nobody knew anything about it (apart from some talks that Google was developing a web browser) and at one day - boom - Google Chrome launched. The best thing to do is sit tight and wait for the press release.
