It has taken quite a while but I have finally finished the List of 500 Internet Directories to submit your site to. The list has up-to-date PR as well as the directories cost(free, paid or recip). Most importantly, the list has links to the reviews on the best web directories site.

Good one. If you are able to maintain this ongoing, you could someday make it quite an industry standard (like the vilesilencer thingie). Do aim for that. You could earn big dollars from directory owners for an "express review - inclusion not guaranteed" service. :)

Great list - plenty of directories I previously didn't know about too.

I also agree clickable links would make it much more useable.

    Thanks Everyone

Sorry about the lack of links but I was trying to minimize the file size and the amount of time required.

This list is meant as an alphabetical reference. I often find a good looking directory that I start to submit to, only to find 5 minutes into the process that the directory is reciprocal or paid.

If you are new to my lists, you should start with one of the ranked/reviewed lists. I have 3 pages of free directories and a page of paid directories, webmaster directories and much more.

Fancy including my directory in the list? It is (currently) reciprocal, although I've never rejected a submission for not having a recip link.

I wouldn't take this approach. My review process is not a one time thing but rather a continuous review process.

Time changes things with directories. A directory can be adding new submissions quickly now but stop adding them completely two months down the road. The review process involves an ongoing submission process.

CanadianEh: Let me tell you a trick for doing the links. Go to one of the forums that doesn't have a 10k limit and past all the URLs in a quick message and then go advanced. Read the source of that page and you will get all your links in a nice form like this.
    <a href="http://www.domain.ext">www.domain.ext</a><br>
    Works really well.

I gave you 4 links to your 4 pages on my List of Directory Lists:

If I have to see the maximum hits in a day my alldotnet is getting, its in following order:

    http://info.vilesilencer.com/main.php
    http://www.seocompany.ca/directory/free-web-directories.html
    http://www.internet-search-engines-faq.com/submit-url-free-direc...
    http://www.info-sales.co.uk/directory_A.htm
    http://www.seozone.net/search-engine-optimization/free-submit13....

There are some forums as well, who have posted this list and am getting significant hits from those as well (I have removed them from above)

Is that because you can't submit if there is no recip link?? I just tried submitting my website to test how true your statement was. Well, you can't submit unless you enter a recip link. Funny, eh? :D

Wow! What a great list.. Thanks for putting me into your list.

Have you thought of making the list into a database, so you can sort for instance pr, or paid/free or review, something like Bob did at Seocompany.ca

Again a great resource, are you listed in all of them?

Sorry, forgot about that. It doesn't check for a valid link, just an URL. Just bang in http://www.strongestlinks.com/directories.php

The thought of putting the list has crossed my mind. It started as an Excel spreadsheet of the sites that I submitted to, which was used to track the directories that make it into the "Best Directory" lists. I then moved the directories into a seperate list and added more until I had about 300. I soon had 400. At that point I thought that 500 would be a nice number so I got back to work.

So what was your questions agian. :) Oh yes. I have been concentrating on the content first. I have done a lot of database work in the past but not on the web. Its one of those things that I can do but it would take a little while. I may get to it someday.

    CanadianEh & BobMutch,

Based on the fact you have spent a lot of time delving into all manner of directories. What would be your 5 "absolute must" FREE submissions?

If people submitted to nothing else but those 5, which ones would they be?

    BTW awesome resource CanadianEh. Rocking!!!

silencer: There is no such thing as the 5 "absolute must" in free subs. I would say if you can score on DMOZ and then Yahoo then you are happening. Other than that there is one free dir that gives 4 links total but I can't remember the name of it. LOL.

Now for pay web dirs. I will give you a good must for pay web directrories. 42 links on bCentral is sweet. If you can't figure it out PM and I will tell you how to do it.

    Also I would say
    http://www.octopedia.com/ 10 links for $13
    is pretty sweet and
    http://bdcconcepts.com/directory/
    and
    http://ecommerce-directory.org/
    for 8 links each at $15 a wack makes me laugh. Can you say D E A L .

    http://www.worldsiteindex.com/ for $14 with 7 links
    and then
    http://www.abilogic.com/ for $15 with 6 links

There are by far the best bang for the buck out there bar NONE.

But hey this is on spelled out on my Most Links Per Web Directory page.

LOL see I do know how to put keywords in the anchor text!

    bawaaaahhhahahhaha

    mooooooooooooo moooooooooooooo moooooooooooo
