    Those are the oldest and the best ones in the book - some which work really well, even today. Although I would say you take a look here - increase backlinks.

    Video is an old one, but it is not widely used, so therefore it is pretty effective. I would suggest trying that out and seeing what you can accomplish.

    Linkbaiting is a technique of building some type of media (ebook, article, contest or anything) that attracts loads of linkbacks.
    It is basically about hooking your audience with your content...

    You can start with targeting these categories,
    Contrary, Resource, Humor, Attack, News

    By far, i found this method most effective method for building natural backlinks!

    Ofcourse, link building is far better than others like directory submission, article, press release etc. link building makes more traffic and top of all it will help you to increase your SEO rank.
    Others submissions will take time to get rank, that does not mean it’s all useless, so many times offpage submissions will help to get traffic.

    I do agree about video marketing and viral marketing/advertising are some of the latest techniques to get attention and traffic
