Maybe it's not new, but first time I've noticed it: Google is now showing 4 extra page titles (only) under the top result for some keywords, and a "More results from .... »" line (not in the square brackets as usual). An example is on a search for "phone books". It's also doing the same for one of my keywords (where I'm #1 in 76 million results). It seems to be picking the high PR pages, as one of the pages it chooses to highlight is my copyright notice page (linked from each page).
Sorry I wasn't clear: some results on Google now appear different, maybe it's not new but first time I've seen it. Perhaps it's a test or not across all datacenters. The reason I mentioned it is that it makes the page titles even more important in a page design, as that's all you see (no snippets) for the 4 extra results. I'll try to link to a screenshot:
don't see it either on a related note. Friend saw the new google adsense layout several hours beforei could see it.
I'm wondering how this site (first one) got the extra links in the results: http://www.google.com/search?num=10...:2005-24,GGLG:en&q=ballroom+dance&btnG=Search
Yep. I think it was Mark Twain who said "When the world ends, I want to be in Cincinnati, because everything happens there ten years later.†LOL
It's something that's being tested. I saw it reported, and Googleguy confirmed it in this thread at the SearchEngineWatch forums.
What could you call him out on? He just confirmed that it was a test Google was doing and not spyware as some thought it could be. I don't see too many of his posts, but thought that one was pretty helpful within the context of the conversation.
sorry that was not meant at you. Its just that anyone could post 99.999% of the things this guy posts. I think the emporor has no clothes on.
No problem, I didn't take it as being directed at me. I would agree that most of the time his posts (from what I've seen) are not earth shattering, but I'm sure they can't be. Corporate policy and all. In this case though I did think it was helpful that he verified it was a test. Saved any speculation and allowed for more dicussion about the potential implications instead of more discussion on whether or not it was legit.
