new iPod?

I'm getting ready to buy a new 60gb iPod video. Do you think they are going to come out with a new iPod soon or should I just go ahead and buy it now? I know they keep coming out with new products and I don't want to buy it today and then have a new one come out tomorrow...

I bought an iPod nano earlier in the year... a few weeks later the iPod video came out. The same thing with my new computer - I bought it and a month later the Conroe chip was released.

Does anyone know if, say you bought an iPod and the next day a new model was released... would you be given the new model? I'd be particular annoyed if I bought a Mac G5 a day before the MacPro was released.

I am actaully having this same debate in my head too. I like the look of the nano...but for $50 more I can get the 30GB video...which holds A LOT more...but then again...iPod will probably release a new model in 3 months, right before christmas and I will be bummed I just blew $300.

Apple are pretty secretive about new products, your best bet is to visit Apple news/rumour sites like Think Secret, Apple Insider and a few others and form an opinion on whether what you're looking to buy is due to be replaced.

Apple also tend to launch or announce new products to co-incide with PR events like the Apple developer conference and expo. So it's always worth finding out when the next one is due. Personally, I would not buy something from Apple immediately before a conference or expo just in case the rumour sites missed a trick ;)

From what I'm hearing it will not have video support for the release later this year.

As for the iPods, I think Apple is going the "one year one iPod route". It doesn't matter when you buy it something will always come out.

The Vision:M from Creative is a good player.

    Hope that helps.

yeah i also looked at many reviews of the zen vision M (which was released after i bought the 30gig ipod...). feature-wise, it's great. but i don't really like lugging around it's thick body design.

if you want to buy it then just go ahead and buy, there is no point in waiting for new models, of course new models would come out any few months but its a never ending process.
