The history - Some important points

* 1957 The United States and Iran sign a civil nuclear co-operation agreement as part of the US Atoms for Peace program.

* September 1967, The USA supplies 5.545 kg of enriched uranium, of which 5.165 kg contain fissile isotopes for fuel in a research reactor. The USA also supplies 112 kg of plutonium, of which 104 kg are fissile isotopes, for use as start-up sources for research reactor.

* 1970s: Under the rule of Mohammad Reza Shah Pahlavi, plans are made to construct up to twenty nuclear power stations across the country with U.S. support and backing.

* 1975: Massachusetts Institute of Technology signs a contract with the Atomic Energy Organization of Iran to provide training for Iranian nuclear engineers.

* January 1995: Iran signs an $800 million contract with the Russian Ministry of Atomic Energy (MinAtom) to complete reactors at Bushehr under IAEA safeguards.

* August 2002: A spokesman for the MEK terrorist group holds a press conference to "expose" two nuclear facilities in Natanz and Arak that they claim to have discovered. However, the sites were already known to US intelligence.

* December 2002: The U.S. accuses Iran of attempting to make nuclear weapons.

* Spring 2003: Iran makes an offer of negotiation with the US that covers nuclear matters and Iran's support for Palestinian groups resisting Israeli occupation. The offer is spurned by the Bush administration.

* June 2004: Kamal Kharrazi, Iran's foreign minister, responding to demands that Iran halt its nuclear program, says: "We won't accept any new obligations. Iran has a high technical capability and has to be recognised by the international community as a member of the nuclear club. This is an irreversible path."

* August 10 2004: Several long-standing charges and questions regarding weapons-grade uranium samples found in Iran are clarified by the IAEA. Some samples match Pakistani and Russian sources which had contaminated imported Iranian equipment from those countries

* August 24 2004: Iranian Foreign Minister Kamal Kharrazi declares in Wellington, New Zealand, that Iran will retaliate with force against Israel or any nation that attempts a pre-emptive strike on its nuclear program. Earlier in the week, Israel's Chief of Staff, General Moshe Ya'alon, told an Israeli newspaper that "Iran is striving for nuclear capability and I suggest that in this matter [Israel] not rely on others."

* April 26 2006: Supreme Leader of Iran, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei said that Americans should know that if they assault Iran their interests will be harmed anywhere in the world that is possible, and that the Iranian nation will respond to any blow with double the intensity.

* April 9 2007resident Ahmadinejad has announced Iran can now produce nuclear fuel on an industrial scale. Some officials said 3,000 uranium gas enrichment centrifuges were running at the Natanz plant in central Iran.

Stays unclear, in my opinion the countdown has already begun until the strike at the iranian nuclearproduction centers, ether by the U.S or by Israel which is being directly and formaly threatened dayli by the Iranian which also support the terror in Israel.

im not too sure that some one should strike over their production centers, it will make a impact worldwide, as long as things can be resolved with talks. most imp thing is they should clear things, from past history just looks like a drag.

 

You can't stop Iran with talks. Show me one positive sign that were mutually achieved through talks with Iran.

Instead, any and all attempts to negotiate with them, turns them into using the publicity to further their cause .

Sad but true.

 

Someone should show the world what a monster looks like, so the world wont stay in illusions like it did in the HOLOCOST when 6 million Jews where murdered becauce of their race.

 

just due to few leaders you cant punish the entire community of people living over there. there has to be some way to avoid this.
one huge attack would cause world markets to slide with fear of war. these are oil rich countries and u never know if one attack can even power those fire to last endless. a lot of planning would be required to set a attack as well.

 

The leaders in Iran have the backings of millions of hardcore extremists, that's the problem. Would be nice if it would be easier to solve this problem. The world will not wait until its too late.

There must be a clear and bold opposition to this regime from within. This is the only chance to avoid the worst.

The atack if it happens would be on the atomic reactors and I dont think a new war will begin.

Israel is tought to have a shitload of nukes. Why should others not have the right to have nukes too?

Isn't that exactly what Iran is proposing to do? Wipe Israel off the map, convert the world based on their logic? Convert or die?

Which should "we" (the infidel) be more tolerant of? Apparently islam is not as tolerant as some claim it to be.

Does Israel make open threats to wipe other countries off the map? Does Israel make threats to convert the world to it's religion? The obvious answer, is no. If Israel has nukes, then clearly it has demonstrated already, it's restraint in using such in the midst of the "peace and tolerance" afforded their country by islam.

On the other hand, we have a nutjob openly calling for Jewish genocide and threatening to convert the world to islam. And this is who you want to have nukes? I fail to grasp the rationale.

 

America has a "shitload" of guns. Why should some be stopped from having them? I mean if you have a gun but refuse to let a psychotic person have a gun doesn't that make you an hypocrite?

I'm sure some of you don't even really know Irans leaders or just speak a load of rubbish for the sake of being "fair"....
