The domain name itself is about a year old I havent really done anything with it but I thought starting a directory would be a good thing. I know thee are tons of other directories out there and why add another but I want to give it a try and hopefully add something of value for DP members and just webmasters in general.
I know for a fact I am not going to turn this into some link farm not caring what is submitted or if it is even in the right catagory. It is free outside of featured links.

So all are welcome to submit.

This thread made my evening! Although I am sick as can be, can barely breathe from pneumonia, I still laughed my butt off! And I coughed for ten minutes afterwards!

 

Ahh I must have inserted the code incorrectly. What my plan was to try to make some change from the site was to require a survey to be filled out before you could add your site for free. So instead of charging say 3.00 or whatever to list I would do that instead.

 

haha nice try but it is hard to due this method on something that is geared towards internet marketers. Now if you had an entertainment website, myspace tools, or other than that is perfect but this won't work. I am also just interested, what coding did you use is it custom or what because I am very interested in it, please PM me if you get a second.

 

I just reread your post you just put up and I think that would be a good idea for people who don't want to pay the money they can just fill out a few surverys and get a premium link. Is the coding through CPA lead or how do I get that I have an entertainment website that I would like to put that on.

 

The coding is with CPA lead....see I knew I was on to something just need to fit it better.

Thanks guys. I think if someone wants ot put there link in the directory asking for a short survey isnt that bad at all. I know I'd rather do that than pay 5.00 or whatever.

 

I applaud your efforts to monetize your directory, but I honestly don't see many people completing a survey for a free submission. Most places that have directory lists won't include your site because of the survey requirement. And most people will just exit your directory and submit to another.

You never know, I could be wrong. If nothing else it will reduce the spam submissions.

lol yea... i dont imagine a spammer has the luxury of time to complete surveys

Thanks again. Yeah I lucked out on that domain name I should have put a directory on it a year ago who knows where it would be now.

 

I think people would take time to fill out the survey if the pages were high PR. Now if you are talking about a PR1-3 directory then most people will pass it up but you will have a few here and there. I think really to have a quality directory anyways you don't want a lot of links in it other than very high quality websites. I think you have a good idea just need to get your directory into BETA mode and test like crazy.

 

Wow I added a test listing the day I created the directory will it is listed in google from listing in my the directory. It took about a week.
So I guess it is def do follow links but submitting to my directory.
