    Hi all,

Merry Christmas, hope you're all well.

I was interested in website advertising. I own quite a famous website and I figured I should maybe make some money out of it. It's a .com site specific to the boxing world, (am I supposed to tell you here what it is? or is it like a confidential thing, I'm not sure lol) but basically I believe that if I contacted some big sports tv companies such as HBO, ESPN, SkySports etc, then perhaps they'd consider advertising on the site.

However, I wouldn't have a clue how much to ask for, and for how long, and how big the banner should be etc etc. Sorry for sounding thick!

And I've also read up on google adsense, is that worth a shout in my situation?

    many thanks!
    Kam

You can use Yahoo publisher, Google Adwords or to sign up with some of the popular advertising or affiliate networks suchs as valueclick, adbrite, cj.com and etc.

What's your site URL? If it's fairly popular, post more content over the next few months, get higher in google for the term "boxing," I think they'd take you up on the offer, and make sure you go in with proof, graphs, and pictures :).

There are some statistics you need to be able to state for your site to help determine a fair price. Number of visitors per day/week/month, returning visitors, pagerank.

You also need to figure out where the adverts would go. If I was in your position, I'd probably sign up with adsense and see how they look on your pages. When you then approach the networks for advertising, you can then very easily demonstrate where their adds would go by saying htey will replace the adsense adds.
