NEW HERE: How do I know who is serving ads on a site?

Hi,I'm new here and for one of my research projects, I need to understanda) how does this whole web ads system work (good reads/links most appreciated) and more specifically(b) how do I determine, say from the elements/code, which agency/provider is serving ads on a website?Many thanks and all your inputs most appreciated.Sarab

 

some times the adds have links at the bottom linking to advertising network (for example adsense)
if not, look at html source of the page and find the place where the ad loads, put that domain name in your address bar or look up the owner of it in whois to arrive at ad network site

 

Thanks Atx.Yes, I am able to get the code but then given the no of sites mentioned in on ad elements, I simply dont know which is what? I need to understand who is doing what activity in those players so that I can understand the ad agency/service serving those the ads.

 

you can also use firefox addon called "firebug" which will show you which html element comes from which address

I think the best place to ask is google adsense. You can get a lot of information about how ad system works.
