    How about it, everybody?

First off, my name's Jacon. No, it isn't pronounced similarly to 'Jason', but 'jay-kun' or 'jay-kon'. It happens a lot. I'm your not-so-average 19 year old college student from the great state of Georgia.

A little bit about why I came to this site. I've been a daily internet user since age 9, and frequent website/forum administrator/promoter since age 11. I'd like to think that I'm fairly net-savvy, but I still learn new things about this wonderful world wide web all the time, as I'm sure we all do. So, some day a few years ago, I decided that since the internet is my passion and my hobby, why shouldn't I try to make a little money from it? This was at a time when the odds of me finding a job in the little town where I was living were practically non-existent. I had heard about the sort of internet marketing that you all do, so I checked out a few sites and found them very discouraging; lacking in helpful members, insightful discussions and really any sort of advice or even a decent forum structure. After a long night of researching, I decided that it wasn't for me.

It seems that I was looking in all the wrong places and researching all the wrong methods. Now that I'm a full-time nursing student struggling to make ends meet, I'm in desperate need for another method of obtaining some much needed cash. I understand that this sort of marketing isn't the "get rich quick" type and takes work and dedication to make any sort of profit. Fortunately, I thoroughly enjoy the sort of work involved. Its something I'd call fun.

After lurking around these forums here at DP, I read many topics and observed many people that were very insightful and decided that this, if anywhere in this business, is where I belong. I hope to learn a lot, meet some great people and earn a little money for the bills while I'm at it. I figure that since I had already been planning a new website/forums soon just for fun, I can't go wrong trying my hand at this. I'm pretty handy with graphic design and forum administration, so I'm hoping these skills will help me out at least a bit.

So, DP, I ask of you; any initial advice for the newbie?

    Thanks, farrhad. :D

That's the difference that pushed me to join this place. I'd like to be somewhere that I can learn from people and walk away with something of a more permanent value than money. That's what DP seems to me to offer that the places I had visited before simply didn't have.
