Hello all, I've been browsing this forum for a couple of weeks and have been getting some good information. Thought I would finally come out of the shadows and say hi.

I've been playing around with Adsense for almost a year now and am now making a living off of adsense revenue... just wondering if anyone else does this full-time?

    Hi Grasshoppa,

I'm still a part-time web developer, though using Adsense and other income methods I intend to go full time at some point next year

Good luck and enjoy the forums

    Cheers

    Al

I find that adsense income isnt worth it as opposed to pitching advertising directly to clients.

I run a surfing website with a couple of thousand users, a PR5 and it generates about 12-15,000 Euro per year because we sell banners directly to surf shops .
if I was using adsense I would only make a fraction of that.

you can make a lot more money but its much harder to set up as you have to go out and actually sell advertising on your website to people.

Thanks for the warm welcome everyone.

Yes, I will be more than happy to post any tips that I might find useful. Plus, if anyone has any questions they are more than welcome to pm me.

Darksat, that's interesting that you are making more off of selling banners. I tried that at first and couldn't get anything. Of course, that was over a year ago when I was first getting started and didn't have much traffic yet. And, of course, I love adsense because *I* don't have to do any selling.

But maybe I'll have to reconsider this...

Well we spent about 1000 euro on advertising and expenses and have a large chunk of the irish online surfing community visiting and the guy who im running/building the site for is fairly influential so we have enough of a reputation to pull it off, you have to be big if you want to walk into bicsports office and charge them 1000 euro for advertising.
I dont think it works as well for low value products but bic for example can make the money back even by just selling a handfull of surfboards.

Most of my websites are financial related (my main site is www.planabudget.com) so my adsense ads pay pretty high. I imagine that I could charge quite a bit for banner ads too...
