This finger print stuff make me scary... :) how about if the publisher borrow his younger brother finger and ask him to click on the mouse? is it better for the google adsense to record the ip of the publisher when he login to his account. And if there any matching ip that also click on the ads.. then for sure it's the publisher himself that click on his own ads..

There is always a workaround, isn't it? This is true for Google too... they may have a workaround for your workaround...

ahahha..thats funny...cuz you cant make everyone buy the fingerprint type mouses and keyboards or they might just ask their friends/family memebrs to click...so this idea wont work..they probably gotta think something better.

    DNA scanners.

If the DNA close enough matches, as in a relative, you get booted. ;)

    Happy Thanksgiving Everyone!!!!

pfffffft, by the time that technology is around Google will have the power to position a liason in your house to watch you 25/8.

Yes I realize I said 25/8 but Google will have created more time so Google can make more money.

I have noticed through Google Analytics you can block a particular IP from being counted on your tracking. I am surprised they cannot use the same technology in adsense so that you are not penalised for your own clicks. Maybe it is something they are working on.

They can actually detect when you click your own ads, and later they remove or reverse the revenue of those clicks. Although by that time you might be in the line-up for a ban.

There is really no reason for you to click your own ads, except for that very very accidental click, but that should hardly ever happen.

I know of atleast one ignorant user who added adsense to their blog. And the quality of the ads were so good relevant that he clicked through 4 times in the week to good links that appeared in his website... Google did not like it and the person was really confused when teh revenue he earned got locked and banned.:)

Good thread by the way... Puns like this were reserved for Microsoft up until now and google has entered that dubious territory...

this thread is in its 3rd page already !!! Crazy !!!

If this happens anyday .. we will have spyware sending our fingerprints ;) and spam mails trying to sell us huge databases of finger prints and autoclicking with those fingerprints :) :)

The fingerprint thing will never work out !!! And with every positive idea there will be atleast 3 negative ideas !!

Tracking invalid clicks? Doesn't chitika already do something like this with their 'audit'?

The idea that fingerprinting can be used to detect click fraud is not practical and really makes no sense. Are you people serious?

I dunno about that. If you're writing about things you're interested in, then you're sure to see ads that you're very interested in. It happens to me all the time. I don't actually click on them though, and if there's no way to tell the actual website it'll be going to (which there isn't sometimes) it can be frustrating.

Why can't Google simply ignore clicks from your computer?
It has been reported here that YPN does precisely that.
No hassle, no worries. Straight from a YPN rep's mouth.
Apparently, Chitika also does this, as well.

When you work on your sites 12 hours a day, 7 days a week, it is VERY EASY to make the occasional mistaken click. TWO times in the last month, I fell asleep at the computer, mouse in hand, and woke up immediately when I made the clicks. I reported both immediately - time, webpage and the exact ad. It is a real pain in the @ss, living in fear of the inevitable.

Is YPN that much more clever than Google? I think not. Google must have other reasons for not doing this.
    1. Perhaps, it is the Google strategy to instill fear and doubt, to keep publishers off balance, and quivering in their boots, or
    2. Perhaps, they really need an excuse to ban poorly performing partners.

    I think it's both.
WHY ELSE? It certainly is NOT that they can't do it. Go ahead and ban ALL IP's originating from my ISP. I don't care. I just don't want to get the nya-nya-nya-ya "We got you" email, for unintentional errors.

No way! Nobody is serious. Except Google. You can see something like this happen soon.

Have you heard that before anyone is employed at Google, they have to undergo an IQ test? Only if they have a "sufficiently" high IQ, they will then be called for an interview! Why should they do this? To catch mortals clicking on their ads :)
