Saw something on google today. It had a Promote, Remove or Comment feature on a search result page... Problem is it didn't show up the next time around when I did the same search.. Maybe it is the beta thing they are working on? or do you know guys something about this? [PS: This forum says it is for discussion of Google as a company but I didn't see any sub forum to post this.] EDIT: I got it now.... It is showing up on Internet explorer... I was opening IE to login to my company intranet and used the toolbar search.. Is this an IE feature????
That is the new Google search for you, it was released some days ago. You can personalize your Google search result now...
It's called Google Search Wiki. Just type in Google "Google Search Wiki" and you will find what it is exactly
This has the potential to be one of the better features they've released in some time. Hopefully it's something they'll continue to refine and market.
Its potentially amazingly good for users but amazingly bad for any webmasters trying to enter an already tricky market. I mean, you work hard to get your site up the rankings only for a user to remove it???!!!?
But it is removed only from the individuals page and not everyone elses. I can't see it being a problem for a webmaster. Provided your site is one with interesting and unique content, it will always be popular with people searching for your sites specific niche. Once they find your site and like it - they can them keep you up the top of their search results for your particular term. I think this is a great incentive for webmasters to make their sites as upto date, unique and with constant new content. Just my thoughts though. Alex
That is a pretty cool idea. I haven't really used it yet but it will be interesting to see how users respond to this
I have seen these kind of search result, but not in google, it was on scour (search with three result seo ;google yahoo & msn) in that site people can rate & comment the result of search.
It's part of Google Personalization development and won't affect the real results, unless you are currently logged in to your Google Account
I guess that s what it is, thought I could only see it on my IE.. A god idea if implemented and adopted properly...
This will affect search results that are being displayed to us and also search results displayed to others to a certain extent.. if large no of users gives thumbs down to a site then it would definitely looked upon..
