New Google Like Search Engine

Hello Everybody,

We have created a new search engine like google... But it is a meta search engine fetching results from yahoo/youtube APIs.

It is not yet released to the public, but some of my beta testing clients reported some issues in the design in internet explorer in windows vista.

Could you please have a look into it and let me know, if you find any errors.

Good ideas but it was too slow... and comparing to be like "Google" is not a good thing. Good luck.

Yes, it is a bit slow as it is fetching results using APIs. But we have a cache system which makes the repeated search for the same keyword much faster.

And I agree that fact that no search engine can be compared with google currently. We just trying to imitate the features people like in google

 

it's really great!! are you using google database???? it has index many of my sites

No it is not using any database directly but using Yahoo/Google API keys to fetch results. Google youtube api key for video search results and yahoo api for all other engines.

quality informative search engine google like

 

I am using my university's IE and it looks ok, you can doublecheck using browsershout though. Also why don't you use Google API which returns more relevant result than Yahoo?

I think it would be more sensible to lessen the google-likeness. After all, if you want your search engine to be used, it needs to be recognizable and distinguishable. There is plain custom google search after all.

like
custom public themes which can be selected by the users,
quicklook,
email result link,
full size image results in lightbox/popup window
badword filter,
custom engines etc
