Hey everyone, So I was looking at my rankings as I normally do everyday and saw something different today. Google is now putting country data next to the url of the SERP it is displaying depending on the site. I have come to the conclusion that this only shows if the site has got the geo targeting set in Webmaster Tools. Please see attached.
Interesting thing here means the Geo targeting might actually start to work as it is meant to, it has been terrible since it was setup and Google had its main focus on Server Location. This maybe all about change! Finally
Thanks for sharing these will really help to target the right sort of vistors with main keywords and country...
Google Webmaster tools allows you to select what area of the world your target audience is from rather than Google guessing like it has done for many years. However the tool has not worked very well and this is the first sign of it being used. Its a sign of things to come. Hope that makes sense
One of my sites is not geo-targeted in webmaster tools at all, it is open to "teh interwebs", This site is a UK thing that is on a dot com tld. This site does not get any traffic from outside of the uk. A lot of traffic yes, but only uk traffic. Do you find this as one of the top site for the same search term in your country?
I've noticed this earlier but I'm yet to see this for any of my site. Not sure what is the exact purpose of this thing, and how to get it displayed.
This shows more relevancy of search results and it's most especially based on the are or country you are searching.. Gazzerman what's the search term you've used?
"office space san jose" in google.co.uk all my pages that have /usa/ in the url are set in webmaster tools as a US part of my site.
nice one, havent seen this before. Will check my sites now. how come it isnt coming up destinations with all the sites on the list or is that your site?
www.yourcityoffice.com is my site and that page is a US GEO targeted page set in webmaster tools being viewed on google.co.uk
