article here http://www.dnaindia.com/report.asp?NewsID=1023787&CatID=5 Now admittedly this is a very brief article that but touches on what this new algorithm does, but this part has me concerned: "Orion hunts through pages related to a key word entered and returns sections of the pages. The user, therefore, need not go through the actual pages one by one." This makes me think that Google, instead of driving the customer to the site, is instead going to serve only the relevant segement of the page, perhaps from a cache or retreived some other way. They alread have full copies of all our pages in the cache anyway, unless you've specified nocache. No visitors to my site means no opportunity for revenue. How would they reconcile this with AdSense? Perhaps elminating AdSense from general use? Serve up relevent sections of pages alongside AdSense ads served directly from Google? I'm sure the sky isn't falling, but I still didn't like what this article hinted at for the 'future of search'
There is a limit of what they can do. Google is always been aware of webmasters and seems to have been respectful of them. They wouldnt try to deliver actual segments because they know damn well there is a limit of 'fair-use' and this would be already on the otherside with copyright infrigment. There is always great headlines come out when a new product is released but its only for press.
Google have always said that the way they make money is by getting people away from their site as quickly as possible. They want searchers to find what they want and then leave by an organic result or and adwords advert. Its not in their interest to keep people on their site.
I can't see that happening for a couple of reasons. Firstly from a usability point of view it would actully put me off using a search. I'd want to see the information on the destination page in the correct context that it was inteneded. I think if this became the norm it would drive people away from Google. Secondly I can't see it happening from a copyright point of view.
There wouldn't be a copywriting issue (depending how they implement it). ask.com already show a popup screen shot against certain results which looks pretty cool but is useless really.
People allow google to take information from their sites and place it on search engines as it benefits them. The moment it stops doing that then it could well be turned into a copright issue. How whould you feel if I scraped your websites and repackaged and published the information on my site? Would you have a moral and legal objection?
Well Ishophq gives nice info here about New Google Algorithm by nice blog and this one is also enlightening article from ezinearticles. http://ezinearticles.com/?The-New-Google-Search-Algorithms&id=2059642 But it would also give results for American History, George Washington, American Revolutionary War, Declaration of Independence, Boston Tea Party and more. You obtain much more valuable information from every search." It is definitely a hot commodity as rumors say Microsoft and Yahoo were both trying to swing a deal with Ori and the university. Google has confirmed that Ori Allon now works at Google’s Mountain View location, but that’s all anybody could get out of Google, Allon or the university.
