New: General Directory - ActiveWebLinks.com - FREE, Reciprocol, Featured Listings

Hello everyone,

http://www.activeweblinks.com is accepting submissions.

It's been a grueling tough last few days to get the kinks worked out, but I do believe I have managed them all.

The Directory is a general directory using phpld v3.03 as a base.
I've really put thought and my heart into the sites design, and I would like for everyone here to help make it shine.

Backinks are not required, but would be very greatly appreciated

The site offers a perk for those reciprocating, in that your site may be randomly selected to be showcased on any given page, all throughout the site. Each new pageview gives you the opportunity to be placed.

I would really like to see suggestive categories to better help the directory grow towards the needs of others. So please do use the suggestions if you feel your category deserves a justified 'niche' in the directory.

This is a project that I plan on taking care of for a long time to come. And with the time spent on the modifications, design and site flow, you know I'm extremely dedicated to it's success.

I have more additions in store, and updated graphics for featured listing to come within the next few days, but would really like to get a head start with allowing my peers to add to the directory now.

Just a note to all, I have a Dynamic RSS feed in the directory for every category, to try and pull in 'relevent' information for your listings. I'm trying to better serve the best of both worlds; my peers and end users.

Also, give the Weather mod a try and let me know if it's working.

Any problems with the site, pleas elet me know. Also, I am allowing random site listing for everyone for the time being, just to give people a show of it.

I also want to add in, that there will be a hierarchy for those who support the directory. Although you can sort by certain characteristics, there will be additions to the charactersistics.

Featured listing will always have precendence.

Sorting by hits, alphbetical or pagerank will also be determined by whether or not you are supporting the directory with a reciprocol.

so
pagrank + reciprocol will have precendence over just page rank
hits + reciprocol will have precendence over just hits
alpha + reciprocol will have precedence over just alpha

This is a directory that will favor those who support it. Whether or not that takes away form it will be up to those submitting. I like to take care of those who take care of others. It's just my personal preference. All that, and I like to maintain a level of uniqueness. Love it or hate it, I just think that's the way it should be.

Nice directory. I have two suggestions, though. Image validation (even this one that is easier to see) slows down submissions. I'm sure that everyone here would appreciate it if that were not present. Also, instead of having a confirmation page, it is much more convenient for those submitting more than one listing for the submit page to reload with the category from the last submission selected (which is the default behavior for the script). Best of luck with your directory!

Submitted a few and noticed something. When I suggest a category I am usually able to submit my site into this category right off by selecting it from the selection box. Apparently you have modified the script so that it does not display the categories in a selection box but rather displays the name of the current category only. This way the process of suggesting of a new category is useless as only a few will wait until you approve the category before s/he can submit the site to it... Nonetheless nice directory.

 

Very impressive directory! Its good to see someone put some real effort into design, ad placement, extra features etc. Your directory should do very well. Just make sure you get some good PR and keep marketing it well and you'll be successfull.
