Hi all, Im reading on another forum that if you simply add this #-your-keywords to the end of your URL it will boost your rank. Anyone hear anything on this? You make your link look like this: http://www.yourdomain.com/#-cheap-hotels it also seems to work like this: http://www.yourdomain.com/?-cheap-hotels The thread can be found here: http://www.webproworld.com/viewtopi...er=asc&&start=0 I tried this 3 days ago on another URL and different keywords and watched my rank for those keywords jump from #19 to #4 in 27 hours. I am somewhat concerned about what would happen if I did this though, I mean, I dont want to get in trouble with G but then again I cant see how there could be anything wrong with optimizing my links. Any comments?
Without any other SEO efforts it might have a noticable impact but G doesn't give that much weight to KWs in URLs to make it an interesting technique IMO. It probably works better for MSN/Yahoo.
Works VERY well in MSN but I havent yet seen any results in yahoo. I dont know if I can credit this for the bump in G but you have to admit it is ironic indeed.
Seems like the latest spammer technique...artificial link schemes...the SE's will catch on eventually.
but how would it be a link scheme I guess is what I am after? There is nothing wrong with choosing the way you want links pointed at you, or what about this... If it were spam or something illegal could someone not just go to forums under different IP's and post competitors URL's with the KW extensions just to get them in hot water with the SE's?
Have seen this spamming technique before (2004 september), it's called Google Bombing, discused over at http://www.webproworld.com/viewtopic.php?t=19786&start=100 see also http://www.sitepronews.com/archives/2004/sept/8prt.html stay away from these techniques please.
whatifind, I already linked to those threads in my original post. Again, how is it spam? and how would the SE's stop competitors from getting others in trouble?
Doh! Ok thanks for adding them then lol. I meant to link to the webproworld discussions as I find them very interesting.
