    Dear All,

I'm looking at getting the best out of my new forum of which I've just made today so i'm looking for the best marketing ideas and ways to make the forum popular. I've decided so far with the forum to only make 2 categories, one of which is called 'General Chat' the other is 'Gaming Chat' is that enough for a new forum or should I make a few more?

    Regards

It is usually a sound idea to start with a blog or something you can proffer useful information from. You do however, have the entire right idea of not making a ton of empty categories. Otherwise its just a huge site that appears to be dead in the water.

Can likely be a bit more specific if you drop a link.

Ahh sorry, didn't bother to click. Heath and wellness is likely a good topic ultimately but you seem to be on the right track.

In firefox the front end has a few elements getting stacked on top of one another. Could be my screen res. My good monitor blew up so i am on 2 old 19" sorta making me crazy lol..

At any rate, may want to check the footy feed. Category images are floating on top of titles as well.

Just a thought. First impressions are everything but the entire venture is looking pretty sound to me.

I am rolling out a huge brand for a client in a day or so. I may be interested in buying some ad space. I have to flesh out a range of that early in the week.

That said, its important to consider how you let folks interact and don't let the forum for instance, get in the way of the wp comment system. Or you can merge them to an extent as well.

Essentially you want to give folks a reason and incentive to engage with one another on the forum but in a manner that doesn't collide with your content efforts.

Hope that makes sense, I am not real alert yet.

    Thanks Nigel,
I'm not really sure how to fix the issues in Firefox, I have been told it doesn't view correctly. I'm thinking of disabling the comments on Lads Mag, due to the amount of spam I'm getting.

I would suggest using contact form 7 with recaptcha installed, its pretty easy and fast to do. That will get rid of some issues. Make sure askismit has a key(tackles most of it TBH) and get recaptcha running on the forum if its not. Its pretty easy to mitigate that these days.

I will try to take a look at the layout issues in a bit. I have to get situated for a bit of work and UFC is starting any sec. :)

This works additionally as well http://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/bad-behavior/
