This must affect lots of people. Ebay Is changing category numbers again this month. I have atleast 6 sites affected by this. Just one example is the change with Apple Cats. They have combined many sub cats into 111422. I cant get this new number to work anywhere. The new #177 for general laptops seems to work Anyone want to brainstorm this one. http://pages.ebay.com/categorychanges/ Apple Laptops & Notebooks 111422 New Category - Apple Laptops, Notebooks 25447 Combined into [Apple Laptops & Notebooks-111422] - Apple iBook 80049 Combined into [Apple Laptops & Notebooks-111422] iBook G3 80050 Combined into [Apple Laptops & Notebooks-111422] iBook G4 4602 Combined into [Apple Laptops & Notebooks-111422] Other iBooks 80051 Combined into [Apple Laptops & Notebooks-111422] Apple MacBook 140064 Combined into [Apple Laptops & Notebooks-111422] Apple MacBook Pro 140065 Combined into [Apple Laptops & Notebooks-111422] - Apple PowerBook 14907 Combined into [Apple Laptops & Notebooks-111422] - PowerBook G3 51040 Combined into [Apple Laptops & Notebooks-111422] Bronze, Lombard 51041 Combined into [Apple Laptops & Notebooks-111422] Pismo 51042 Combined into [Apple Laptops & Notebooks-111422] WallStreet 14908 Combined into [Apple Laptops & Notebooks-111422] Other G3 Laptops 51043 Combined into [Apple Laptops & Notebooks-111422] PowerBook G4 14909 Combined into [Apple Laptops & Notebooks-111422] Other PowerBooks 4606 Combined into [Apple Laptops & Notebooks-111422] Other Apple Laptops, Notebooks 80052 Combined into [Apple Laptops & Notebooks-111422]
Thanks for bringing this to our attention. It would be nice if the eBay affiliate team would alert us to this sort of change but I'm beginning to believe that they don't actually exist...
yes, in fact I am finding that a lot of the new categories, even the odd top level category simply do not work any more, probably because they do not exist in the current BANS database. very annoying, this needs to be updated asap, as its broke!
Damn I didn't realize but this change really screws me over. Is there a formatted listing of what changed to what that I can use to write some code that would update my database? Maybe theres some API call that will return history of the changes, will have to look into it.
