Hey everyone, Knowing that ebays affiliate partner is Commission Junction, I was wondering who this is.... and how they are giving back 1% of ebay purchase price? are they new? Does ebay have a new affiliate partner besides Commission Junction? Or are these ppl sub-affiliates? are Sub affiliates even allowed under CJ and ebays rules? http://www.kickitback.com/Default.aspx who are they?
They're just giving kick backs to people for using their affiliate links. You can see it in their links: e.g http ://rover.ebay.com/rover/...AID=9254938&PID=1446521&SID=-1%4025%404 It's basically the same as me asking my friends to shop at eBay using my links, and then giving them a cut of my cut. I'm not sure about eBay's TOS on incentivized marketing - but I guess kickitback.com have looked at it closely.
Thanks Kerosine This sounded very odd: You will receive up to 1% of the final price of an eBay item. The final price is the actual closing auction price, fixed price amount or Buy It Now price and does not include shipping, insurance or any other additional costs. The exact amount received is determined by the commissions eBay pays KickItBack. The payout from KickItBack will not exceed the amount paid by eBay to KickItBack, which may be less than 1% of the final eBay item price. You also get a percentage of each item purchased by people you refer to the site. (Referral payout percentages are displayed on the referrals page in your account) Its sounding like pyramid type stuff..... a percentage of items purchased by those referred....... Is that allowed? ahh I just noticed they are part of "Auctiva" http://www.kickitback.com/TermsOfService.aspx They may well have a special deal going with ebay..... hmmm.........
There are a number of mashups available out on the net today that do the same thing, just with different affiliate programs. The really big ones take a slice of everything from CJ programs, amazon, clickbank and other big ones and payout to users who sign up. The real catch is that you have to earn x amount before getting your payout. Neat idea, just a monster to track and facilitate.
I looked over their website. If I understand this correctly, they are an ebay affiliate and are giving part of their commission to buyers. I think that means if you are an ebay affiliate and somebody uses kickitback it is their cookie that will be set and you will lose your commission when somebody buys on ebay.
I don't know if that would be considered a scam. But as an ebay affiliate I don't want to see that kind of thing around overwriting my cookie.
Geomark, I was thinking exactly the same thing. Since its Auctiva, they may have some special arrangment with CJ/Ebay... doesnt seem fair though that they can do this...
If somebody uses kickitback, that means they click onto eBay from the kickitback link & then the cookie is set. No cookies are automatically placed. This site is no different that Upromise, ebates, and other similar cash-back sites.
