New domain however I am afraid that....

    So I opened a new domain: Theebooksgalore[dot]com
However if you take out "the" it directs you to a site that is for sale with that domain, and they may come after me for copyright/trademark reasons.

However this hasn't happened yet and I doubt it will.

What do I need to do?
Copyright / Trademark it if they haven't already?

    Please Advise.

    Thanks,
    Jason

For a TM status to be active you have to claim USAGE. Parking a domain is not considered commercial usage. You have no worries.

I doubt you would have any problems. Someday if someone uses that other site and puts up a site that's in direct competition with yours then you might hear from them. It doesn't mean they can do anything.

No worries, however I would advice you to develop your site as soon as possible and maybe register it, just to avoid eventual future trademark issue's.

sydneyaus has a good point. If you can get your site on archive.org before the other folks then you at least have proof that your site was up and running before theirs :)
