If you have a b2b business please find an appropriate location for it in Business category under Internet. The Directories category is reserved for web directories. The reverse of this is true. If you own a directory it goes under the directories area, not in a category that closely fits. As the Directories category grows we will add more sub-cats to alleviate issues with finding niche directories. These will be displayed in areas of similar intrest throughout the site so there is no need to spam your directory there. I still have about 1500 sites in my sandbox and from what i can tell by glancing most are link farms, affiliate sales sites, mini-sites littered with Google Ads and plagiarized content, ebay sites etc... New Rules: 8. This is an English language directory. Any submissions where the title and description are not in english will be removed (obviously I will make exceptions for foreign language business names). 9. No more viagara, cialis, or [insert your 'generic' prescription drug here] sites will be allowed. I have been informed that most could be selling potentially harmful non-FDA approved medicines from China and also that they violate trademark laws. In an effort to ensure the health of users browsing the directory these sites will be terminated. However, herbal supplement and over the counter RX sites will be allowed.

Please make sure: -your site is NOT A mini-site -your site is NOT An ebay/amazon/linkshare or other affiliate site (this goes for BANS sites) -your site is NOT a prescription drug site (otc and herbal is ok) -your site is NOT a site using squeeze pages. -Site can pass Copyscape. -That you are NOT submitting individual products to the directory from your store (very few exceptions such as if you sell software that has a diverse set of purposes then posting each title is fine) -You title your listing with your brand / site name DO NOT USE ANCHOR TEXT. -Blogs are blogs are blogs. They are not, for the most part, reliable news sources nor do they belong in general areas. I know there are a lot of auto-accept directories out there (and I mean a lot) that take just anyone. but my goal here is to build an intuitive resource for both internet browsers and webmasters trying to get their site noticed above the muck.
none of your sites were approved. they all sell prescription drugs online (violation of one of the above mentioned rules).
Fellow Webmasters, Right now there are over 3k sites in my sandbox. I am sorting through as fast as I can but I am getting over 500 submission request (most junk) daily. one of the things I always invisioned with a directory was that it would be social. The guys at DMOZ are highly anti-social and never really provide good reasoning on why you can or cant get in... all because an editor doesnt like your site or has a vested interest in blocking your sites inclusion or maybe is an inactive editor. Of course you dont even know the editors so you really have no clue. sorry guys. It seems a DP mod felt it neccessary to give me an 'infraction' for 'bumping' my thread months ago, when in reality I was clarifying rules for those reading this thread. On that note a new rule we implimented to make the directory a bit harder to get into was once a month acceptance. One day per month I spend all day scanning the submissions looking for good entries. How we process: 1st: Any link description with the following keywords is auto-erased: Viagra, Cialis, Tramadol, Pharmacy, Diet, Weight Loss, a href, xanax 2nd: Any link with a title that contains the above words is auto-erased. 3rd: Any website that contains the following phrases is erased: build a niche store, Associate-o-matic 4th: Any link that makes unsubstantiated claims is erased (i.e. a realtor agent site claiming to be the 'only/best/complete' source for listings in a city). 5th: Any link that is submitted more than twice is erased. 6th: Any link that is in a completely different category is erased (i.e. an auto parts site in the baby shopping category). 7th: A human edit is done on the title and description of the site and the websites merits of being included in the listings. If the website doesn't meet editorial cirteria it will be deleted or sandboxed.

clearly that doesn't include you. Directories are not considered a reciprocal link unless they force them. We don't force them at all. and google likes linking, but it like relevant linking.
