You actually have a coded site, sure it's simple, but all he has are .jpg mock ups. I hope the other guy can code those before monday.

I consider design #1 to be the best, I know that it is not your's but it feels to be today's business style with 4 images in the middle, thought both of his hesigns need a lot of development and simplicity

About your's, you have a problem with that page when it is viewed with 800x600 resolution, take a look at it if you need your 1000$

besides if you have a chance for another try, go to _www.templatemonster.com and go over some business style designs, take one of them, and start creating a copy of it with different colors and your client's requirements, at last you'll get a cool look for sure

    Let us know what happens

your competitor's first mockup is the nicest. shouldn't be hard for him to code either. i know i can port that into xhtml/css in under an hour.

also, tables work, but aren't really up to today's standards.

yeah his first one is very easy to do, i could do that in under an hour too. I agree its nice though. Even if it is more of an entry page.. I'm thinking maybe page 1 is the entry page and then page 2 is the actual site. Also i'm pretty sure ive seen that same exact site a few dozen times.

Any comments about improving my the design?

there are only 2 things on your site to attract your client, thats the onmouseover images and the news, the action on the site is quite enough, but you still need to work on the design man

links onmouseover, only the first link "our products" shows the bullet.

Still you need design, I feel like that there is no design there.
Goggle doesn't have any design elements on the site, but its nice to look at, your's truly isn't for me

Also don't use that BAD RED color, use something like MORONE

You could do something like this, ask the client to view that page for the interactive thingings and then send him another design, something like these:
    _http://images.templatemonster.com/screenshots/11800/11815-b.jpg
    _http://images.templatemonster.com/screenshots/11800/11812-bswi.jpg
    _http://images.templatemonster.com/screenshots/11700/11752-b.jpg
    _http://images.templatemonster.com/screenshots/11600/11682-bswi.jpg
    ...

don't buy or try to find these templates, make your own based on the style, you'll get a good result, I assure you. I can have a design for that website, 1 or 2 samples in 2-3 hours man, if you are a designer you should be able to do an interface like that

I am a web programmer and not a designer, look here www.la-rhinoplastie.com, my friends did the programming I did the design, what you think, so do you think its good enough for my client to accept it. You don't have to use FLASH to have it look nice or actions for it to be attractive

please don't use gray on gray.

design is not only the visual aspect, but also the usability.

for a business wanting to sell it's products, you need to present the visitor with product info (pictures). have them displayed prominently on the homepage. save the "about us" stuff for a subpage.

And whats up with that Times New Roman font? Plus I feel you need someone experienced in copywriting to help you out. It doesn't sound and feel professional enough (some grammar mistakes here and there). Though I understand that Chinese think of red as a sign of good luck and prosperity, it is usually not recommended for a corporate site. A little red is fine but not this much!
