This kind of weapon which looks like a handy but has 4 shots of .22 caliber was first found In Amsterdam. When press digits 5, 6, 7 and 8 it goes "pang". Some dealers got arrested in Slowenia too. The aim of this handy gun is to get through airport controls without being suspected. The FBI issued a warning and they say its very serious. The easiest way to find out that it is a gun is the weight. It is much heavier then a handy.
I guess you're German, right? "Handy" is what our friends who are about to be dumped out of the World Cup footy call what we in the UK would refer to as a "mobile" and I think stateside they refer to it as a "cell phone". That aside, it's a pretty mean tool. Won't get past airport security though.
I hear all the time different versions of describing mobile phones. Many Americans I know use the term "handy" too, at least those that live abroad. I'm not german but from Europe. Though I think its funny the way you described "Handy" Aren't terrorists and criminals trying to dump us all?
Why does thread remind me of Tommy Tutone? Anyway, I don't understand why it would get through security just because it *looks* like a mobile phone. Its still a gun and any scan will easily see that.
At many international airports, mobile phones never got scanned. This warning is issued to all international and domestic airports to scan mobile phones now. Also at the other hand its a threat everywhere since these guns are sold from the underground. Experts say this is a job of professionals.
I agree with Yfs1, I've never been through an airport security check that wouldn't find that gun 1000 times out of 1000.
Lol, I fly constantly throughout Europe and North America and I have never once been able to bybass security with an electronic device. I have never flown out of a third world airport though so maybe that is where the security lapses are. But that in mind, it would seem if security was that bad, you could just bring in a gun - why bother with a phone that looks like one? Its not like it uses an alternative propulsion system or has composite bullets or anything.
The airports i have been which do not scan your mobile are Bangkok, Malaysia, Singapore & India. When you proceed for check-in, theres a basket where you put your belongings like mobile, lighter, cigs etc and collect it after you are scanned.
...and not to mention domestic flights. In Bangkok they ask you to discharge your gun after you've checked in. There were no controls at all. They displayed a bulletproof Barrell and you have to discharge your gun there after you have taken off the ammutions, just in case of a bulllet got stuck in the gun. When I saw this the first time I had to laugh loud. But okey, that was a couple of years ago, they may have changed the rules now.
And they don't run that basket through the xray I haven't flown in the last year without having to put my footwear in the xray (Used to be shoes only but now includes ALL footwear)
Its not actually the blog title, I think they either have some sort of error or they put the feed in incorrectly. Either way its been messing up the display in every thread he has posted in
I know, i think theres some problem with that blog, so i just removed it. Sorry guys. It happens once in a while. No they dont.
