http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/f-news/1490381/posts http://www.newscientist.com/article.ns?id=dn8062&feedId=online-news_rss20 First the bird flu and now the dog flu... coinsidence?? Is it just a matter of time befor a strand mutates into the next spanish flu?
If it weren't for all those fox hunters with their equines and canines racing all over the countryside chasing skinny little rabid foxes because they refuse to give rabies shots to their domesticated animals, none of this would be happening. Personally, I blame Camilla... and I'm still not convinced Elton John didn't have something to do with it. Either that or it's those Scottish farmers getting off again in the wee hours of the morning...
I don't think our actions have anything to do with it. I've read that the flu naturally mutates into new strains. Same thing with the "super" aids strain. Researchers say a new stronger strain comes every so often and kills alot of people. The spanish flu (http://www.stanford.edu/group/virus/uda/) in 1918 was the last time this happened and it killed (20-40 million people). Many researchers are saying the bird flu could mutate into a strain that gos from person to person (instead of bird to person) and that could potentially kill a billion people. http://www.breitbart.com/news/2005/09/29/D8CU8UC00.html
Like I said... Camilla and Elton John... Here in Canada, we're just relieved no one's blaming it on Bryan Adams and Celine Dion for a change...
looks like every year, the viruses are getting deadlier. just liek last year (or was it?) it was SARS that threatened the human race from the simple bird flu.
