Hi I just added a stemap to my website and it jumped me to page 2 for my main keyword.

When I add new content, do I need to generate a new sitemap?

    Thanks :)

Haha, it may well not be the effect of sitemap. It is natural that for keywords the ranking frequently differs. Due to addition of sitemaps, there will not be any big effect in SERP rankings. Sitemap only helps in indexing any new pages fast.

For small sites, the answer will be no. Google will index it again. What Sitemaps are for is to inform them that a page has been modified.

But for this to work, you need to set up a Google Webmaster Tools account and submit the Sitemap thru it.
