Hi there, A university friend and I are coming up with a new concept, it has not previously been created and although simple, it is very useful. Now, this idea is not one that is filled with keywords, or something people will search for, because it is new. For example, it's not a 'tool that helps you design' or anything like that, it's completely different from anything. So I think offline promotion is key to the success of this project. Currently the website is in development and we are undertaking some domain name research, as well as trying to think of marketing ideas. Obviously we are on a university campus and have access to 20,000 people, but we're not sure how to go about advertising this to the campus yet. We will of course let our family, friends etc know, which will hopefully spread it a little, but we're a little stuck from here. Any great online/offline marketing ideas for our project? Regards.
well i supose its down to what the idea is now im sure thats not going to be shared but using viral marketing will only work if its somthing your designing that has that need for others to share it to others like a good game or adictive app that helps you with somthing usfull and people tell people who tell people and so on, now as you said offline as its new just because people dont know about this dosent mean the online option is a dead one because how does anything ever become online? first of all make sure your copy writed and that when you share it no one can steal your idea use the advantage of university to spread to word about it tell family about it create a website and tell everyone about that and place all the info about it on there put it in papers write a good press release and see how many papers will take your story for free magazines related to the new ideas niche post flyers, royal mail door to door drop service can deliver packs of 1000 flyers within a day or so for you on a post code basis, this will cost but it works well or post them your self. put flyers in all the shops pubs resturants and where ever will take them just look for ever bill board that you can find and make sure your flyers are in them, walk round town centers handing flyers out and tell people its the next big thing, make sure the website adres facebook page twitter name and what ever else is on the flyers aswell as bulleted info points to the major key factors of what makes this good, dont put to much writing on flyers that calls for the bin, keep it graphic pictured simple to the point and clear. you can book slots to do live shows about it at local librarys put up a stand in towns use all the social networks the there full extent cross it all into one net on and offline everything should link to everything else ask university if you can do a stand up, make it interactive and fun explain that this will happen have prizes of some kind maybe 5 people will recive this thing for free, if there are 20,000 people at uni and this idea is apropriate for uni then im sure that the uni its self will only aprove and want you to use the uni to show people about it? if not then ohh well theres more ways decals on cars or what ever you drive get it on the back window of your car ask your family friends to do it aswell for you try all of the free methods and when it comes to the realy horible complicated ones that take years like really powerful online marketing id simply use profits and pay some who has say 5-10 years experiance because spending a little cash on this is in fact taking you thorugh time 5-10 years by harnising on some one elses profesion and using it to boost your own!
