I have just upgraded my forum to VBulletin Board and want a nice color scheme to introduce, and being color blind I need some help.

What colors are best on bulletin boards?

a funny story about colour-blindness! It's far more common in men than women, and sometimes you don't even know you've got it.

When I got to first year college for graphic design we did a colour-blind test in our Colour Theory & Perception class. there was one student who always wore bright green shirts and he discovered he has a hard time seeing green when we did our sight test.

There he was in front of the entire class and we asked him why he always wore bright green shirts and he honestly thought they were all dark forest green.

The good part about this is that his colour blindness has no effect on his work now, I don't know that he uses green prominently in his work, but I know he uses palettes and colours chosen on sites like colour-lovers and makes wonderful stuff.

Have you ever considered doing design instead of webdesign?

I find that dark contrast colours work the best. Try using a blue/grey/black and white colour scheme. I also really like the colour scheme of Digital Point Forums. Though it is all up to you what you want to use.

    Hope I've helped,
    thanks,

    What your forum is about?
Example, if it's a business forum, you want professional look, use light themes.
If it's a Game forum, dark themes look great on it.
No matter what color you picked, the texts/contents must easy to read on the background, menus/navigation are easy to use.

by the way, great story "innovati",
