Has anyone seen the use of a "new" chicklet/icon use across from the usual text "Ads by Google"? I came across one here at the top of the Adsense skyscraper on this page. http://www.fitnesszone.be/search.php?cat_id=72
They are doing it manually... with a layer... <div id="Layer13" style="position:absolute; width:36px; height:15px; z-index:28; left: 714px; top: 148px;"><img src="gif/new.gif" width="32" height="13"></div> Code (markup):
tisk, tisk, yon chiclet doth appear to violatith ye ole google terms of service. I hope they're not counting on keeping that revenue stream alive.
Why would they bother to spend the time doing that? It looks real crappy. Man, That site looks BAD in Firefox.
Thanks Shawn I also agree it looks bad. Glad to know that it isn't something from Google's end as on my ads I try to minimize all distractions ie borders from the ads themselves and would not like a mandatory include of an ugly "new".
Google has asked me twice to remove ads that aren't on ideal pages. I'm sure they will ask these people eventually as well. I removed the ads on my search page and on my forums login page and Google was happy.
