New CB Vendor with a few questions

I just got approved at Clickbank!
As soon as the activation is complete I will be selling a $77 product with a 75% commission.

I have a few questions for current vendors...

Should my main focus be searching for affiliates and helping them, or doing my own promoting?

Would it make sense to buy different (long tail named) domains to market my product on different sets of keywords?

Thank you in advance for your help
    Alex

First do your own promotion, so you have valid results from your tesst and some conversion rates. Once you have everything tested and managed to get better conversion rate, you should focus in searching for affiliates and helping them. Make sure you also offer affiliate materials which they can use to promote your product.

Once your product is proven to be sellable, affiliates will automatically come.
Gravity will shoot up and you can retire after that.

Try with some PPC. This way you'll quickly see how the sales page converts and you can optimize things.
Once everything is optimized and tested, take screenshots of your conversions and contact potential
affiliates (you can personally contact top sites ranking for your ppc terms).

This may seem trivial but it's absolutely true.

    1. Don't worry about affiliates, you have to prove the product yourself, if affiliates come and you use them as your guinea pigs - they'll leave shortly after and your rollover will be huge. Make sure you split test your page/price/copy/calls to action/etc. don't just stick to first draft trust me it's never right (especially pricepoint and copy).

    2. Once you do the above, and sell a good 20-50 yourself, I'd say you have a pretty solid idea of what works and why - NOW you can support affiliates and create good retention because they'll be converting easier vs. rollover.

    3. Your longtail domain name idea = yes, and whatever else you can do pretending that you are your own affiliate - if you can stay profitable being your own affiliate in whatever capacity (including ppc/adspend vs. free bum marketing), then you'll get bombarded with good quality affiliates.
