Though I am not new to internet and web designing, I am completely new to professional blogging thats why I am askin your help...

I am thinkin of opening a blog about the FOREX spot market, that I would update every 2 days and profit from it...I am looking to provide a good content with eye candy needed to get returning readers.

    The questions are :
Free or Paid hosting and domain ?? Of course Paid I guess but what are good hosting companies....I am currently near broke thanks to university. So looking for some bangs for my bucks..

The ultimate question WP or blogger and why ?
Also if you could tell me about any good books to read on how to attract users, SEO..etc I would be grateful :)

    Thanks a lot

I can try to give you a few advices:

    1) I'd go for a self-hosted blog right away. Like you, at first, I didn't know anything about blogging and I wasn't sure I wanted to invest any money in it. But as my blog developed, I found Blogger was a drag: not flexible enough, fear of losing the blog (after all, Blogger has control over it...). I moved to self-hosted WP and never looked back. But meanwhile, the change wasn't that easy: I had to change url, move all my posts... So I'd say if you are serious about blogging, invest right away and get yourself self-hosted WP.

    2) For hosting, I have been with Site5 for 3 years. It's reliable and not too expensive (also broke from uni ;-)): I pay 96$ for a year. If you are interested, you can always PM me.

    3) I'd definitely go with self hosted WP, which is more flexible thanks to a huge community, thousands of free plugins and great development. Having tested both, Blogger is cool for learning how to blog, for blog that are not to be monetized, for occasional bloggers.

    Good luck!

Looks like godaddy.com is a better choice than site5, with the wordpress plan you get what you need at a cheaper rate than site5 ?

Paid hosting with a WordPress blog.

Better control over everything and better in terms of SEO.

Buy your own domain and hosting space. You'll get full control over your blog.

Visit my blog (link in sig). Read the post series 10 steps to starting a blog from scratch. I've covered hosting, WP versus Blogger and all of your other questions as well. Go to my site and you'll see my recommended hosting provider.

Why do I recommend them? Unlimited domains on a single account = more blogs for the same price + unlimited disk space and bandwidth for less than $8 a month. That's what I call bang for buck

I currently have 1 blog with GoDaddy and I've gotta say for the money (which is $1 a month less), it's not my favorite host. Too much downtime, too many periods where the server just grinds to a halt. Just my opinion though. No doubt others would have had better experiences.

For less than $8/mo? Ok what's the catch? Do you need to sign up for at least 3 years? :)

For $8 a month it's 12 months prepaid or else it's $10 a month. Pay for 3 years I think it gets as low as $4.

Also I have some discount coupon codes for anyone seriously looking for hosting.

Just PM me when your ready to purchase.

Yup buy domain and pay for a web hosting plan. That's the right way to start a blog.

I got that much in my three month blogging. It seems imposible to got that much in first month because you must build your blog brand first.

First of all Don't think about free hosting if you want to do it professionally and need to earn revinue. You can chose Go Daddy for domin and hosting Host Gator. best of luck

Yes, blogging is a lot of maintenace and hard work. The money slowly comes after the hard work. It's possible to make $100 in your first month if your internet marketing skills are on point.
