New Blogger here with lots and lots of questions

Hi all
I am a new blogger who will no doubt require lots and lots of help and info. I have already started a blog which I am far from happy with, but with help from those of you with experience I am sure it will improve.
We are a middle aged couple currently living in Victoria, Australia.
The reason we have decided to create a blog is that we are due to travel around Australia in a converted bus. This adventure is hopefully going to be ongoing with a start date of Easter 2013 and a completion date, well who know?
We would love to inform all our friends and relatives where we are and where we have been, I would like to add a large format map of Australia pin pointing our location where friends are able to click on our location and see photographs and descriptions of where we are.
Although I am computer literate (sort of) Blogging is all new to me. So a slowly slowly approach may be needed.
The title of my blog Is Tykes on Tour
Unsure if this matters? I am using a MacBook pro
