Hey, thanks for the positive response! We gotta get the directory industry some new eyes... I am trying to post messages on all the Internet Marketing forums too.. I hope a DP owner wins... but... those internet marketing guys are pretty good..

I just wish I was eligible... I really wanted that iPod Touch...oh well.. lol..

And Mhamdi... I thought about your proposal.. and actually took it into consideration before starting the contest. The reason I did it the way that I did was because I wanted to make sure one of my customers wins. I wanted to "give back" to them. So this way, my customers have a chance at a great prize and some "fresh eyes" looking at their websites as well.

hmmmm... I am confused about what you are asking? The contest isn't for the site that I bid the highest on.

It is about the website that can send the most traffic, unique and new. In my opinion the site that best figures out a way to generate NEW traffic is going to be the winner.

BigWebLinks and Zorg-links are eligible as they have sites accepted on Beacon-Directory.

We'll have to see... I will be posting the standings only each day!
They may or may not be front runners. I haven't even heard that BigWebLinks is interested in winning the iPod. Mike definately is and he has come up with some unique ways to generate traffic in the past, so I am definately looking forward to seeing what he comes up with (I am sure there will be some good discussions about tactic used after the contest..

I also know there are several "Internet Marketers", that didn't even know about directories that have submitted their sites. So there has definately been an increase in exposure for directory owners, which is the ultimate goal with this contest.

I m confused now.

I thought these sites will not be counted. (No offense to Mike & Chris )
Not because they don't send you traffic (I am sure they do) but because they are already doing a great job and you actually "paid" to get that traffic.

Just my opinion.

 

All sites that are approved and listed on Beacon are eligible. Even Chris and Mike's sites, which yes I advertise heavily on.

If you want to know the truth, I think they are at a disadvantage. Unless they can come up with a way to generate new people who are looking at their site none of their visitors would count as NEW and unique.

I have banners and links on many sites. However, I am not going to penalize them for having sites that I consider worth "the cost of admission".

I do get a decent amount of traffic currently from these sites, but nothing that couldn't be overcome with a decent marketing strategy. I would have have to log into Google and look, but my guess is, those two sites combined account for less than 1% of the traffic the site has received in it's just under 4 week life (but probably the highest converting traffic).
