New blog. Looking for reviews/thoughts

I've been designing sites and graphics for a few years but this is my first real site online.

1. How is the design? Does it make you want to come back?
2. Navigation?
3. Text easy to read?

Any other thoughts? I'm trying to decide what to put under the "recommended books" section in the lower right side of the footer, so if you have any suggestions there, I'm all ears.

Very nicely designed blog! I am going to agree with parab with respect to the text colour... it's a bit too light for my personal tastes but then again, we are all different!

With regards to the above comment, I think displaying your RSS feed subscriber number is very much a personal preference and of course there is lots of controversy about whether or not to do it... but for me, it doesn't take away from your overall design!

Hi, with regards to showing the feed subscribers. I will more than likely show them eventually, but right now, as it's such a new blog, I really don't have many subscribers. I don't think it would be beneficial for me to display my ten subscribers. Now, if I had five-hundred subscribers, then yeah, I'd probably show them.

Yeh, i would reccoment showing them if its at least over 50.

 

Great blog. It looks very clean and professional.

But I would make the text a little darker so it is easier on the eyes.

 

Thanks for your thoughts. That seems to be the general consensus, I'll have to play around with the color tonight.

EDIT: Okay, I've made the font color darker. I actually do like it better. Thanks for the suggestions on that.
