I was doing some research today and noticed a site that had backlinks on hundreds of other sites, but the links where in the source code and hidden using the display:none; css. The site is ranking 2 in Google for a very competitive keyword and basically has no content worth talking about, keyword stuffed to the max. Oh, and it was a webs.com site... <div style="display: none"><a href="http://GuysSite.webs.com/" title="Keyword">Keyword</a></div> Has anyone else seen this around? I doubt it will be long before Google find it.
google will penaltized it. like Dirbull.com Case. they have some Link on other website pointing to them , with clear display.
THis method will be apparent to big G. The code itself is "no display". Google does not like hidden links, and will see this. Dont use it.
Hidden text / links is nothing new.. been around for a very... very long time. Google does not like it and this method is only good for the short term as once it's found the site gets kicked out
Black hat method wouldn't work now, if it is working now, it would be caught soon and you would be penalized for this very heavily, so you have to think of this first. It is algorithm of Google which doesn't detect anything currently, it detects over time, and can be detected automatically.
Ha, this isn't new. Its up to you the approach you take. Funny how lots of people chime in and say never use black hat SEO techniques like you are committing a crime. If you are going to use SEO methods that are shady use them to build sites you don't care about getting hit, make as much money as you possibly can by getting them ranked quickly and then move on if they do.
