    Hello,

I have heard several times that CityPics' current blue is a bit too dark and wouldnt match too well. Personally I like it but would like to play nonetheless with alternate colors. As beginning I chose CityPics' red and would like to hear your opinion about it. Another variant would be http://www.citypics.org/index_palerblue.php.

    Thanks!

Unambiguously, blue! It looks much better than red, you could try to make it lighter and more pastel...

The dark blue is the best, but is too dark. The red is bad. The paler blue is too bright. Keep trying more shades of blue.

Try to find a color that compliments the pics/site without drawing attention away.
You can use the pics on your site as a color sample. If you want to use a shade of blue take samples of the sky. A good pic to sample. Try a bunch of different color samples from multiple pics. You should be able to find one that is complimentary without being too bright or distracting. It takes some trial and error because some colors look good in small amounts but as a background they do not do as well.
