New at this: adding affiliate stuff to an existing blog

I have a couple of pages on my blog that gather a wee bit of SE traffic, one on emoticons, the other on car rental. For the first, I think I could make money if I offered links to free smiley downloads or something, the other perhaps an affiliate link to Hertz (my article is on Hertz, mainly).

How ought I go about this? I'm new to the whole affiliate stuff, but getting a few extra dollars per day through existing traffic would be nice. I've also got a number of other pages that might be candidates for such passive marketing.

The first thing you need to do is join an affiliate network.

You then login to your account and obtain the code for any creative (banners etc), that you would like to use on your site.

You will then be able to log in to the network and see your stats, etc.

    That's it in a nutshell!

That question was a bit vague - I'll try again: I did look at applying to a couple of affiliate networks, but I get a bunch of questions about tax numbers, and them wanting to start a relationship with me and the like. I'm not a US resident, and I'm not keen on all the phone call stuff. Is there a simpler way?
