Alexa has changed its Ranking Algorithm.

    According to Alexa,
We listened to your suggestions, and we believe that our new rankings system is much closer to what you asked for. We now aggregate data from multiple sources to give you a better indication of website popularity among the entire population of Internet users.

Do you ant idea on "multiple sources" of data collections?

My ranking increased from 2million to 1.3million...

Pretty terrible. I would like to know how they have changed their algorithm. Why do these companies always keep things so secret!!

My ranking went up 50,000 which i'm pleased with i guess. People might start to take alexa rankings a little more serious now.

One of my sites went up, another went down. Personally, I'm happy that they're working on improving their algorithm and including sources beyond their own toolbar. My hopes would be that they continue to improve it.

Wow, DP sure did drop! Like 100 to 900.

Most of my sites are showing better ranks now though. Pretty cool, but still not accurate.

UtahLuxury.com wasnt ranking well because we only had regular non-webmaster traffic. Now the algorithm is showing that we are in with good company and at a much better spot. My ranking is improving and I am happy to see that we (the non-webmaster websites) are being treated equally.

My site (signature, below) went from 1,832,635 to 985,115

This reflects one thing very obvious: they are relying less on Alexa Toolbar Data collected from people with Alexa spyware installed on their computer.

Look at Digital Point (this site):

Alexa score before changeover = 301

Alexa score after new algorithm in effect = 938

Since this site is mostly visited by webmasters (many of whom use Alexa toolbars & SEO Quake), it makes sense that a site like this one would have a WORSE alexa score: the Toolbars are WORTH LESS

(NOT "worthless"........but the Tool bar data is not worth as much as they were last week.... )
