Hello everybody. Just got my account activated. So far, in 1 day, I've has some activinty, all impressions though, no click-thru's yet. The business is www.racersmarket.net. We build BMW performance parts, from turbo kits, to custom software. The owner is one of the top BMW tuners/engineers in the country, with experience with both BMW's, and racecars (real racecars, not street racers, LMP, Koni Challenge, Rolex GT, etc.). My goal for adwords is to simply create more sales for our small-ish business. not looking to become massive, but would like to reach out beyond the BMW message boards to many BMW owners who do not use message boards such as www.bimmerforums.com. I'm using starter edition at the moment to get used to the setup and format, and to see just how this works as a test. I've set my max per month budget at $25, again, as a tester to see how this works. I've created a single ad so far, with about 24 keywords associated with it. One question - my ad appears to be on the right-hand side of the page, is this normal?? Does anybody actually look over there? What does it take to get my ad listed under the left-hand side of the page with the rest of the search results?
To appear above the natural search results, you need to be one of the top three PPC adverts, and bid enough (though Google won't tell you exactly how much). To appear in the natural search results is a little more complicated - the 'rest' of the adverts aren't paying to appear there, they are put there because Google tries to provide the best websites for the search - websites that appear here tend to be old, and have many good quality links to them (did I really just cover SEO in one sentence? - no wonder I prefer PPC, it's much more complicated!) But this forum's about PPC - the paid adverts that appear above and to the right of the natural search results...
kendogg, I noticed you have about 100 items. I think you should broaden up the amount of keywords you have set in adwords. Sitting on those 25 bucks wont help to learn what works. Push your adwords bro and make them do some work for you. No clicks, okay. What are the positions of your keywords? The ones WITH impressions.... Number 1-2-3? If not, bid higher for those keywords....or find less competitive similar keywords. Do a few ad variations as well. Maybe your ad isnt appealing. Dont know myself, but you MUST test, and sometimes you have to spend a couple bucks to see what works and doesn't work. Let us know....
My keywords that are showing impressions are averaging in the following positions: 1.3 2.4 3.7 3.8 4.4 7.4 7.8 13.5 I'll try creating a few different ads, and splitting up the keywords between different ads, and see what happens. How do you adjust the cost per click?? I have it set right now to allow google to price them accordingly to best fit my budget, is that not ok? And how do you mean by broaden them up? As in, more general terms, as well as some specific keywords? There are quite a few specific keywords that I think some more knowledgeable customers would be searching for, especially BMW chassis and engine codes (E36, M50, S52, etc.). Any suggestions? Thanks everybody!!!
i am a new customer and have spent $20 on my account today. got over 12,000 impressions, just over 100 clicks but no sales haha. i like how you can see how many clicks/impressions you get from each of your keywords. ive narrowed my keywords down to three now as i hope users using these keywords are the ones most likely to want my product.
