Hey guys, not sure if anyone has noticed this before, but while I was switching between tabs on firefox studying html, I noticed all the adsense were literally right under the tabs. Since Im so bad controlling the mouse with my laptop I actually clicked on one of the silly ads. Hahaha...check it out, http://www.w3schools.com/html/html_head.asp Open a few tabs and you'll see what I mean. I need a few tabs open when im doing work since I like switching between them.
That is a sure way to get smart priced, I think, sending rubbish traffic. Another trick I know of is having a javascript message box pop up with an adsense block beneath it. Since lots of 'old' people double click EVERYTHING they click 'ok' on the message box then the ad block. Although I neither condone nor use this trick.
Agree this looks a little naughty.... I'm wondering if these mistaken clicks will not be awarded to the publisher though because you would generally close that new window (quickly) unless it interested you
I doubt you would get banned for placing your ad block at the top of the page, since 9 times out of 10 there is a legitimate reason to place an ad at the top of the page.
Very creative but not a good idea. You will get smart-priced for this as accidental clicks rarely convert. Nonetheless, pretty interesting find.
Maybe Im looking a bit too far, but as more people rely on the internet, people will start opening more tabs and keeping them open. I sometimes have 8 tabs open cause im doing research or writing SEO related articles and need to refer to 7 or 8 difference sources. No big deal I guess, but it was just something I noticed (since I accidentally clicked it haha)
playing it fair helps in the long run, or else you can get smartpriced for no reason, not a good idea, there are lots of tricks webmasters use, well a contentious issue as adsense itself give you optimisation tips to increase your ctr
