New adsense script I have been working on

    Hi

I am new to these forums, so I just wanted to say hello to everyone before I start.

With that said, I have been working on a script to try and increase my adsense CTR. I have been studying for some time now and after reading many forum posts, blogs and other material about adsense, I thought I might do a little experiment.

I have a site with about 800 pages of content and about 500 members. I have a lot of repeat traffic and have been working at increasing new visitors.

The script I have developed only displays adsense ads for a certain amount of page impressions. By looking at historical data for the site, as well as click data and best performing pages, users will be targetted by ads only for the desired amount of impressions based on this data. Obviously the more visitors I get, clicks and average page impression per visitor will affect the amount of ad impressions for new visitors.

It is only an experiment to reduce the adsense impressions, which in turn should boost the CTR. The repeat visitors who are probably blind to the ads wil only get the ads for a certain amount of impressions, then they are switched off.

I hope I have explained myself and I just wondered if any members might give me some feedback on this idea. I have just installed it and will let you know how it gets on. If it works, i would be happy to share it with anyone who is interested.

    Cheers.

You can do this now with phpadsnew. Or is your script going to do something beyond with it can do?

    Thanks for the reply.

To be honest, I had not heard of this script. The script I am working on will record number of clicks, ctr for each page, average page impressions per visitor and some other stuff. This script is purely for adsense, so perhaps the script you talk of can do this already?

I'm not sure how this will really be helpful.. sounds like a lot of work, but what will it really gain you in the long run?

No, phpadsnew is simply a banner rotator, it can not do that.

bschneider5, I think he plans to have it increase his revenue :)

Actually, phpadsnew will allow you to show a given ad only x number of times in a given period for a specific user.

Here is a question though. If you use phpadsnew for Google ads and have the ad software (or any ad software) track clicks, thus a modification of the Google code... is this a) allowed and b) could it impact results.

I have sometimes wondered about lower total impressions to increase CTR but at the same time... I have seen two curves... more $$$ for a higher CTR and more $$$ for more page impressions and same CTR.
