New Ad Format?

    I Love this format, but...

    Usually, the Ads by Google are clickable but in this case they are not. What do you think is going on? Turn off styles in firefox and you'll see the Ads by google move.

    Never see this before. The website apply css to the ads itself?

    Is it something the website is doing, so it's against TOS or a new adsense style ?
    Looks pretty neet, will probbaly get a lot of clicks since they dont even look like ads, took me a bit to even see em on the page.

    are you saying that
    are google ads???

    this HAS to be wrong :( THIS MAKES ME MAD, even the "Ads by Google" is not a link any more, so cant even report the sods.

    And it is not a new ad format, they have some JS above the google ad code that is changing its layout and format.

    If they took out this:
    document.write("<table cellpadding=\"2\" cellspacing=0 border=0 bgcolor=\"#ffffff\" width=100%><tr><td align=\"center\" valign=middle nowrap><font size=-2 color=#6f6f6f>");
        if (google_info.feedback_url) {
          document.write("<a href=\"" + google_info.feedback_url +
            "\">Ads by Google</a>");
        } else {
          document.write("Ads By Google");
        }
        document.write("</font></td></tr>");
    Code (markup):
    Then it would not even show "ads by google" :(

    That's weird. No matter how many times I refresh the "ads" stay the same. Click one of the links and watch the status bar, though, it does seem to be going via google.

    Strange one.

    Hmm, yeah it seems weird. It's not in an iframe either, like normal adsense ads. But, everything appears legit.

    Nice find!

    If you look at the ads source as well there are some new 'things' (I am not familiar with javascript so I don't know the correct term)

    google_ad_output = "js";
    google_max_num_ads = 5;

    Code (markup):
    I haven't seen that before.

    As dct said, I bet that site gets a great CTR. It's strage, it goes through google, has his/her publisher id.

    that site seems to be premium or semi-premium and it was given the ability (permission from google) to customize their ads

    One of the premium features is "Flexible ad formats", with the insertion of ones own javascript.
    ---------------------

    Other features or benefits of adsense premium accounts are:
    --------------
    Google sales representative and account manager
    Additional monetization options
    Customized revenue terms
    Advanced and more robust filtering
    Assistance with site optimization
    Enhanced technical support from a sales engineer
    Business support from a dedicated account manager
    Monetization of search results

    Premium or not, I doubt they would allow the ads by Google to not be clickable.

    And absolutely no doubt their CTR is to die for!

    It's hard to imagine that site qualifying for premium. But you never know.

    If not it's a major TOS violation!

    Wow.. man, I need to become premium :)

    Their CTR would be amazing.. imagine something like this in a large directory, with adsense looking exactly like the directory URLs :)

    I doubt Google would give Premium service to that site. No PR, no alexa ranking and no content, just sponsored listings for each of their 'categories'. if those are Google ads then that site is clearly violating the TOS.
