I was preparing to register browsermaker.com. The software is almost developed and had decided on this name a couple of weeks ago after clearing it in namecheap.com Didn't have the funds in Paypal yet, so decided to double-check in GoDaddy. This was a couple of weeks ago. Today, I go to register the name, and what do I see... And, on top of that, all that is up there is a GoDaddy holding page. I love it!
Samething happened to me with LLL.net and infos this past 2 weeks on Godaddy. They were available on whois search and then: not available on godaddy...(and registered by godaddy!)
The owner of godaddy is pretty clear on this sort of thing, domain tasting and using WHOIS searches to grab domains from people. It's probably not them. Also registered AT godaddy and registered BY godaddy are two very different things. Millions of people have domains registered at godaddy and use godaddy park pages. There are other ways to get search data, though, no matter whose WHOIS search tool you use.
Yeah, but in question of minutes...(more then once!). Or, it was available on domaintools.com, but when i went on go daddy (took like 20sec to load) and said was taken. Happen like 10 times this week on differents computers(and place) and boom they registerd it godaddy private! Happened on 1and1 too and domize. Never been able to register LLL domains when I find them: they allways say that its not available when it is!
Why don't you guys use InterNIC ?? Why to go for a private company WHOIS if the public service exists with no BAD intentions. http://www.internic.net/whois.html Bookmark this and learn to never WHOIS on any private WHOIS in future. Thanks, Vijay
this has nothing to do with godaddy, it's pure coincidence. Also LLL.net are snaped right after they are released, no way to register it unless you backorder it with snapnames or namejet
Jasonsc is right. it is pure coincidence. Chinese can register in godaddy now, a lot of domains have been registered.
It's a little coincidental. I mean, "browsermaker"? How on earth did someone else think of something so vague at the same time? Also, the guy is from China and as we all know, a lot of shady things happen over there. I wouldn't be surprised if this was the result of some kind of sniffing attempt.
This issue has been discussed already several times in this forum. As I've told before, anyone should query domains using software instead to avoid name hijacking. My favorite is LanWhois, freeware
Agreed... coincidental ... I mean, if YOU read this news, who ELSE read this news? Not only that... but you think domainsbot has better funding than godaddy?... meaning, why r u taking domainsbot for their word over godaddy? As for me - i only search if I'm ready to buy... if u c that badboy sitting there - scoop it up. With all the godaddy coupn codes floating around, it means nothing to have to fill your cart before checkout - but one at a time if u have to, but be ready to shoot once u have the target in your crosshairs. Njoy
That's very common, dirty but yes, that's what they do. When teasing was more liberal they did it all over the time... e.g. whois.domaintools.com does it too! And probably most of them do it. Use official whois db instead of shady ones... -> InterNIC
Why don't you guys use InterNIC ?? Why to go for a private company WHOIS if the public service exists with no BAD intentions. http://www.internic.net/whois.html Bookmark this and learn to never WHOIS on any private WHOIS in future. Thanks, Vijay ABSOLUTELY!!
If you have a Unix-based OS, the best way to whois a domain is to use the "whois domain.com" shell command.
