Never used google sitemaps before

    How do they help your website? Do they get google to spider your website quicker? :confused:

    The google sitemaps section has some cool stats which is a good start.

    not quicker,

    but it helps google to find pages which may not be linked elsewhere.
    Also it allows you to mark your valuable content as important and the rest less so.

    I have a site that is relatively new and ranks very poorly for the keywords I am targeting, however it is crawled by google bot and the like nearly every day according to my stats. I your opinions would a site map been seen as essential and as i have not used one before would it help to get the site ranking better for the keywords I am targeting, I think prabably not but I would like some opinions.

    I would not say that it will help you rank well on your keywords, but as in the previous posts, it's good for a site that does not get spidered.

    Perhaps setting the priority (which is a hint to Google), may give a page more importance, and if enough of the important pages target related keywords, then perhaps in this way you might have an impact.
